Thomas Anthony "Tom" Trant
Thomas Anthony "Tom" Trant, 100, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Harmony at Falls Run in Stafford surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born on November 16, 1922, in Wilmerding, Pa.
Tom was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran who served on several PT Boats, seeing action in the Pacific Theater during World War II. A proud veteran, he traveled to PT boat reunions throughout the country into his 90's. It was not until his later years that he began to share the stories of his wartime experiences with family. After the war he returned to Pennsylvania to marry his high school sweetheart, Jean, and move to Fredericksburg. It was in Stafford County that they raised their five sons.
Tom continued his service to the U.S. Navy working in Engineering at the NSWC Dahlgren for over 30 years. After retiring, he and his bride moved to Florida to live on a golf course, pursue their avid passion for the game and to attend various PGA tournaments. Golf continued to be a daily event until moving back to the Fredericksburg area at age 97. Cruising with friends was always a treat and many were taken including a family cruise vacation to celebrate his 90th birthday.
As a sociable, friendly person, Tom was a long-time member of Fredericksburg Elks 875, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a founding member of the local Cavalier Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Jean "The Queen."
Tom is survived by his five sons, Thomas Michael (Brenda), Daniel Francis (the late Janet), Stephen Lloyd (Janet), Brian Philip (Cindy) and Kerry Joseph; his beloved grandchildren, Michelle Biro (Peter), Cameron (the late Wendi), Jason (Lisa), Stephanie Yealy (Kaden), Brendan, Brittany Fulmer (Chris), Brian "Bo" Jr. (Jenna), and Bryce; and his great-grandchildren, Kalen and Alexa Biro, Gavin Trant, Kenzie and Maxwell Trant, Jack, Kate and Alex Yealy, Ella, Chris and Annalise Fulmer, and Brian "Trey" Trant III.
